District Two FY'25 Goals and Platform Priorities

These are high-level issue areas that I hope to address throughout the school year, both in how I think about our budget, policies, and community engagement efforts. That includes key priorities that I will focus on when I visit schools in District Two or have meetings with principals, elected officials at the state and county levels, and other stakeholder groups. These priorities are distilled as high-level themes.

Goals

These goals represent the progress I hope to see through my efforts as a school board member this year. By the end of this school year, these indicators will have improved to or above this level. My goals are the following:

Academic Achievement: 45%

Academic Progress: 50%

Attendance: 80%

HS Graduation Rate: 85%

Post-Secondary Readiness: 80%

STAR Rating: 3

Platform Priorities

These priorities are part of the District Two platform and will serve as a roadmap for success throughout this year to attain improvements across schools in District Two.

School/Social Infrastructure Improvements

Ensuring all students receive a transformational education, starting with unprecedented school infrastructure investments. This includes investments in human capital needs such as high-quality professional learning, instructional materials, connectivity access, and a strong, supported, and diverse education workforce.

Academic Achievement and Excellence

Advocating for educational resources where every student's potential is unleashed. That commitment to excellence extends across diverse programs, including dual-enrollment initiatives, comprehensive career and technical education (CTE) paths, vibrant performing arts programs, and many other opportunities.

Addressing Student Mental Health

Investing in additional mental health supports, integrated social-emotional learning practices in the school curriculum, engaging with external mental health organizations, embedding wellness checks within daily lessons, or assigning a wellness coach to each student. This also includes investing in more school counselors, psychologists, and social workers to ensure that every child can have their mental health needs addressed.

Strengthening Family and Community Engagement

Implementing school policies that recognize and engage parents and caregivers as full educational partners, sharing information on evidence-based practices to support in-school learning at home, providing information in easily accessible, digestible, and culturally affirming ways; and engaging parents in goal setting and school-based decision making.

State, Federal, and Private Funding Opportunities

Focusing on strategic allocation that bolsters academic excellence, supports educators, and enhances the school environment. This encompasses continuing to invest in modernized infrastructure, expanding access to cutting-edge technology, providing professional development opportunities that empower our teachers, and implementing comprehensive programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students, through outside grants and other funding opportunities.
